What to do with the little guests?

Let's be honest: a one-hour ceremony and a five-course dinner aren't exactly the highlights of a child's life. But give them a few fun activities, a special role, and maybe an ice cream at the right moment... and they'll have a fantastic day with you!
And that is good news. Because happy kids = happy parents. And happy parents usually stay on the dance floor just a little longer.
A wedding where everyone feels welcome
The question almost always comes up during the preparations: should we invite children to our wedding or not? There is no right or wrong answer. It depends entirely on your wishes, the atmosphere you want to create, and, of course, the people you want to have around you. However, we notice that many couples initially view children primarily as a practical challenge, whereas they can actually provide countless special moments. Their own children, nephews, nieces, or the children of close friends. Inviting them often makes a wedding feel even more personal and complete.
Give them a leading role Children love to participate. And you really don't need to organize a full musical for that.
For example, let them:
  • bring the rings;
  • scatter flowers;
  • to welcome guests;
  • help hand out program tickets;
  • to cut the cake with;
  • or make a drawing that is laid out during dinner.
Not only do children often find this incredibly special, but it also creates fun and personal moments during the day.
A little entertainment and a nanny work wonders
A coloring table, a scavenger hunt, a bouncy castle, a craft corner, or a table full of games. Sometimes it is precisely the simple things that keep children entertained for hours. It is helpful, however, if there is some form of supervision for the little ones.
For many of our weddings in the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, France, and Belgium, we work with professional nanny services. They organize fun activities, supervise the children during dinner, or ensure the little ones can go to bed while the party is still in full swing. This way, the children can have a fantastic day, and parents have the space to be fully present at your wedding. A win-win!
